The Midget is getting a new home!

Yesterday we picked up the keys to our new rental. The Midget (as yet un-named) will no longer be left to the elements with just a car-cover to protect it. We'll now have a two-car garage that will house the little Midget along side what ever other project I happen to be working on.

Pictures of the Midget sitting happily in it's new home are soon to follow in the next couple of weeks.

She's home!

On Saturday, I rented an auto carrier. My brother and I went across the state and picked up the little beauty. I had my camera, but forgot to take any pictures of us loading up the little Midget. The trailer was big enough to load a Cadillac! We could have put three Midgets on the trailer with room to spare. I tried to get a picture of her as we were moving along. This is the best I could get;
The clouds were amazing on Saturday. This was taken on the way home (from a moving vehicle!)

I did get a picture of her on the trailer when we got home. It was getting dark by then, so it's a little blurry, in spite of the image stabilization.Now we have boxes of pieces and parts to go through, and a resurrection to plan!

Here's the little cutie as she looked when we met her. The chrome's in good shape; and, except for a couple of minor issues, the body's in excellent shape.

The beginnnings...

The day after Thanksgiving, Tara fell in love. Not with a human or animal. With a car. One as old as her; Specifically a black 1972 MG Midget.

The little Midget had been sitting in the garage of a friend of my uncle's for about 15 years, until his wife told him he didnt want it any more. My uncle adopted it, but decided he had too many projects all ready. When he told us he was going to sell it for what he had into it ($350) I started drooling, but wanted to hide my desire. I too have way too many projects.

Tara, on the other hand was visibly excited. "I WANT THAT CAR! I'LL LEARN TO REBUILD THE ENGINE, I'LLLEARN TO DRIVE A STICK!" She said. After confirming with her five or ten times, we decided to get the car.

I'm starting this blog because we finally reserved an auto trailer and bought a car cover for the Midget. She'll be joining our family on Saturday.
